Artist Statement
I surround myself in colors and textures as I mix media together, exploring contour, texture, patterns, and abstracted human forms.
My mixed media art speaks to the varied states of being a black woman in America. My paintings/collages are joy-filled exaltations and expressions of living with a constant sense of repressed rage.
Drawing from these experiences, my work is inherently complex as I work to make meaning in a senseless world. My paintings invite viewers into this experience, presenting a moment of reflection to consider shedding both the positive and negative emotions my work speaks to.

I use materials as diverse as my DNA to push this potential forward, including acrylics, gel mediums, alcohol and acrylic inks, oil stick and posca pastels, gelatos, wire, gouache, encaustic, printmaking, book-making, and digital fiber arts.
